Hello, Northern Supporters!
Today, I want to highlight our BUSINESS CIRCLE member, JPI INSURANCE ASSOCIATES, a business associated with Dillsburg since 1988, and one that I’ve used as my home/auto insurance broker since 2009. An insurance broker, as you probably already know, shops around to find you the best insurance coverage/rate. Since they don’t work for a particular insurance company, they can get you competitive rates.
What really sets JPI Insurance Associates apart from other insurance brokers, in my opinion, is their top-notch TEAM MEMBERS.
On January 9, 2023, around 10:00 PM, my home was destroyed by an electrical fire that started in my garage and quickly spread throughout the entire house. On January 10th, JPI Insurance Associates owner DANIEL MCINTOSH and his associate SHAYNE MCINTOSH met my husband at our property to discuss the next steps in the insurance process. Shayne became our point of contact and mediator with Erie Insurance (who our policy is with for our home/auto).
I was so impressed they came to our property to offer guidance instead of just a phone call! Their expertise didn’t stop there on our lawn—Shayne made the claim process painless, and when we hit a few bumps along the way with Erie, it was Shayne who went to bat for us.
It was nice feeling like we had someone in our corner!
SIDE BAR: Let me take just a few moments and encourage you to review your renters/home owners policy with your agent, regardless of who you use. Verify you have the insurance coverage you think you have, that you have enough coverage (you don’t want to be under-insured), and everything you think is covered is actually on the policy. The night of our fire, I couldn’t have told you what our policy did or did not cover. Thankfully, because we have used JPI since we purchased our house and our agent really looked out for our best interest, we were properly covered. Huge relief!
And then after that intial review of your policy, put it on your calendar to review every few years so you can continue to feel confident you have the coverage you need.
I also encourage you to go through your entire home and take photos/video of everything that you own—be sure to open cabinets and drawers and show what is inside of them—and then store that data on the Cloud. This will help make things a little easier on you if you have a claim. (Update the photos/videos as needed.)
We have since rebuilt our home on the same property, and a week after we moved into our home, Shayne and fellow agent, Khan, came to the new house and we reviewed the new homeowner’s policy together. They patiently walked us through all of the coverage, discussed what we could remove and guided us on some options we may want to add to the policy. Not once did I feel they were giving us a sales pitch! Our experience with JPI Insurance Associates has shown us they see the value in good insurance coverage and want their clients to have a good defense against life!
