Weaver’s of Wellsville: Legendary Taste for 135 Years

Hello, Northern Supporters!

For January, I want to highlight our BUSINESS CIRCLE member, WEAVER’S OF WELLSVILLE.

Weaver's of Wellsville is one of the PBF Partners Business Circle members

Nestled in the charming town of Wellsville, Pennsylvania, Weaver’s of Wellsville stands as a beloved institution, offering high-quality meats and an unparalleled customer experience. For over 135 years, this family-owned butcher shop has been serving the local community and beyond with expertly crafted cuts of meat and a variety of specialty products. Whether you’re a long-time customer or a first-time visitor, Weaver’s reputation for quality and service is something that brings people back time and time again.

A Family Legacy in Butchery

Weaver’s of Wellsville was FOUNDED BY Jacob and Lily Weaver in 1889. Like many local butcher shops, the business started with a passion for quality meats, a focus on skilled craftsmanship, and a desire to serve the surrounding community. Jacob began cutting meat for local farmers and producing a variety of bolognas and sausages on his farm just outside Wellsville. In time, he moved his operation to a butcher shop in the middle of town where he continued to slaughter livestock and produce his sausages and bolognas for local customers.

The Weaver family’s commitment to excellence and tradition continues to this day, with each generation working to uphold the values of their predecessors.

The shop is now proudly run by fourth-generation Craig Weaver, and his sons, Cole and Seth, the fifth generation of Weavers, who have expanded Weaver’s of Wellsville offerings and developed a loyal following. While the shop has grown over the years, it has maintained its focus on personalized service and old-fashioned techniques that set it apart from the big-box grocery stores and chain meat suppliers, such as using open fire with locally sourced logs to naturally smoke products.

Three Businesses Under One Roof

Today, Weavers of Wellsville has become three businesses under one roof: food distributor, retail store/butcher shop, and meat products manufacturer.

The food distribution department has 3,000 items from over 100 vendors that are distributed to supermarkets, specialty stores, and farm markets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Northern Virginia, New Jersey, and District of Columbia. Product categories include fresh meat, deli meat/cheese, frozen seafood, meal solutions, bakery products, and ingredients. Check out their interaction STORE LOCATOR to see where you can purchase Weaver’s products.

Their 2023 remolded/expanded RETAIL STORE, “The Butcher Shop at Weaver’s of Wellsville,” offers customers deli meat, chicken, pork, beef, and seafood.

But what Weaver’s is most known for is it meat product manufacturing. Weaver’s of Wellsville branded smoked meat products are sold throughout the mid-Atlantic through retailers. Some shelf-stable items are sold in retailers as far away as Alaska!

The Products: A Cut Above the Rest

Weaver’s of Wellsville prides itself on its HIGH-QUALITY PRODUCTS, which include everything from bologna, bacon, beef jerky, and cheeses. The shop sources its products from trusted farms and suppliers, ensuring that the meat is not only fresh, but also ethically sourced. Whether you’re purchasing sausage or beef sticks, you can rest assured knowing that each piece of meat has been handled with care and expertise.

Weaver’s is known for its wide variety of house-made sausages and franks. From flavors like CLASSIC SMOKED SAUSAGE and SMOKED IPA BEER BRATWURST to unique offerings such as SMOKED CHORIZO or SMOKED HOT PEPPER CHEESE FRANKS, each sausage is crafted with the same attention to detail that defines the shop’s entire operation. Many customers rave about the shop’s signature summer sausage, which has become a staple for gatherings and picnics.

One of the standout features of Weaver’s is its custom BUTCHERING OF DEER MEAT. Customers can bring their fresh or frozen deer meat into the store and have it turned into any one of Weaver’s great products!

A Personal Touch: Customer Service and Community

One of the reasons Weaver’s of Wellsville has built such a loyal following is its exceptional customer service. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff who are eager to assist. Whether you’re an experienced cook looking for advice on a cut of meat or a first-time shopper trying to find the perfect snack option, the team at Weaver’s is there to guide you.

This family business is deeply invested in its community, often donating products to local food drives and participating at fundraisers like the PBF’s ANYONE CAN COOK event. Their commitment to local farmers and suppliers creates a network of support that benefits everyone in the region, fostering a sense of community that goes beyond just business transactions.

The Future of Weaver’s of Wellsville

As Weaver’s of Wellsville looks toward the future, it remains dedicated to preserving the traditional values of quality, craftsmanship, and community engagement that have made it a regional staple. They are poised to meet the demands of a new generation of customers who are looking for high-quality, responsibly sourced meats. As food trends evolve, the shop’s focus on providing an authentic, personal experience will likely keep it at the heart of Wellsville’s food scene for years to come.

Conclusion

Weaver’s of Wellsville is more than just a butcher shop; it’s a community cornerstone, known for its top-quality products, skilled butchery, and commitment to excellent customer service. Whether you’re preparing a special meal or just stocking up on essentials, a visit to Weaver’s offers a chance to support a local business that has earned its reputation for excellence through decades of hard work and dedication. In a world where fast food and convenience often take precedence, Weaver’s serves as a reminder of the value of tradition, craftsmanship, and the personal touch.
